FOOD INSECURITY aka HUNGER

“𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆” 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. In my day, we called it “𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿”. We called it "𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻” … and we thought that it only ever happened to “other people” — you know the ones.

𝗪𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗨𝗣 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟. 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘆𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗿𝘆. (In fact, this could be you, right now.)

𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 — 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.

... and yet, millions of hardworking people face it every single day.

People with jobs. Parents doing their very best. Families who never imagined they would find themselves counting coins at the checkout line, or putting items back, or skipping meals so their kids can eat.

What nobody ever talks about is the shame that comes with it — even though none of this is your fault.

The "Cost of Living" has doubled. Groceries have skyrocketed. (SNAP benefits haven’t kept up.) And healthier food — the kind everyone says you should buy — is often completely out of reach.

Food Banks … Soup Kitchens … Places we never thought we’d even consider “visiting”, now represent “salvation” for far too many of us.

But here’s the part you need to hear: 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹, 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.
